Daytona24hour.com was created in 1997 by race
fans, Randy and Henry Stevens. This site was born out of a
desire to have access to current leader board and time information. In
1997, information about the race was hard to come by until after
the final minute. Technology has come a long way in the last
ten years and now expanded coverage on specialty channels, such
as The Speed Channel, allow racing fans to follow all aspects of
this event.
We are simply race fans who
wanted to share this race with others world wide. Our first
year, without internet access at the track, our site was updated
with the help of binoculars, cell phones, and a family member off
site updating the information on leaders as it became available! Thank
goodness for wireless internet access! Now we can share our
unique perspective on this great race minute by minute with information,
commentary digital photography. This was now grown into
the largest internet site featuring the Rolex 24 hours of daytona
exclusively
In 2004, during the race and following month we
received over one million page load. As the years have gone
by, there is complete coverage and information available through
professional web sites and satellite channels. Our love for
the sport has kept us trying to find a way to provide unique, current
information and photographs that display the race from a fan perspective. During
the actual event, we will post more digital photos than any other
racing source.
To conserve bandwidth during the event, we will
be posting some lower resolution photos; however, high resolution
photos will be available after the race for
publication pricing is dependent on intended use.
