Lap 33 - 58:31 (2:28 PM) - OVERALL LEAD CHANGE: No. 10 ANGELELLI comes down pit road for service, handing the lead to No. 91 GOOSSENS.

Lap 34 - 1:00:24 (2:30 PM) - Race-leading No. 91 GOOSSENS pits, but maintains the lead. No. 75 PAPIS, No. 77 GIDLEY, No. 19 VALIANTE (LABONTE in), No. 3 LEWIS, No. 01 PRUETT, and No. 05 AUBERLEN all make pit stops.

Lap 35 - 1:02:40 (2:32 PM) - Crew members take off the engine cover of the No. 23 Porsche in pit lane (DUMAS in) and begin repairs.

Lap 36 - 1:03:25 (2:33 PM) - No. 61 WILKINS (BURT FRISSELLE in) pits as does No. 43 NONNAMAKER.

Lap 37 - 1:06:50 (2:37 PM) - No. 68 BALLOU makes a pit stop, and No. 00 SCHECKTER loses power just before its pit box. No. 39 FITTIPALDI makes a second stop. No. 23 DUMAS is still on pit road.

Lap 39 - 1:09:45 (2:40 PM) - Crew members push the No. 63 Mazda behind the wall.

Lap 40 - 1:10:35 (2:40 PM) - OVERALL LEAD CHANGE: No. 6 ALLMENDINGER passes No. 91 GOOSSENS for the overall lead in Turn 1. Crew members finish the work on the No. 99 Pontiac and GURNEY returns to the track, 28 laps down.

Lap 45 - 1:20:36 (2:50 PM) - No. 20 WALLACE heads to the garage after losing the No. 1 cylinder in the engine. The team is changing the ECU.

Lap 48 - 1:26:06 (2:56 PM) - No. 10 TAYLOR makes a pit stop.

Lap 55 - 1:38:35 (3:08 PM) - No. 20 WALLACE returns to the track more than 10 laps down to the leaders.

Lap 57 - 1:41:55 (3:12 PM) - No. 01 PRUETT and No. 05 AUBERLEN are running nose-to-tail for fourth place overall, with PRUETT maintaining the position.

Lap 58 - 1:43:45 (3:14 PM) - No. 58 DONOHUE pulls side-by-side with No. 91 GOOSSENS on the back straightaway, but GOOSSENS maintains the position. No. 01 PRUETT passes No. 58 DONOHUE for third place in Turn 1.

Lap 61 - 1:48:53 (3:19 PM) - No. 05 AUBERLEN gets by No. 01 PRUETT for third momentarily, as the duo drag races down the back straightaway. AUBERLEN takes the position for the good at the entrance to the chicane.

Lap 62 - 15:21:29 (3:20 PM) - No. 51 ERDOS and No. 84 DALLENBACH (LEGGE in) make routine pit stops. Fifth-place GT class No. 70 HAM pits.

Lap 63 - 1:53:02 (3:23 PM) - No. 69 ASSNETATO, No. 21 WORKMAN pit, as No. 73 NIELSEN gets a flat left-rear tire on the back straightaway but returns to its pit.

Lap 64 - 1:55:33 (3:25 PM) - No. 07 EDWARDS (COLLINS in), No. 12 BALDWIN (BELL in) and No. 11 CARPENTIER (DUNO in) make pit stops, as does No. 16 GAVIN.

Lap 66 - 1:57:07 (3:27 PM) - No. 58 DONOHUE (LAW in), No. 75 PAPIS (BRAUN in), No. 02 DIXON and No. 88 STANTON make stops. No. 59 HAYWOOD (FRANCE in) pulls down pit road, followed by No. 76 JONSSON.

Lap 67 - 1:59:07 (3:29 PM) - OVERALL LEAD CHANGE: Race-leading No. 6 ALLMENDINGER pits (JAMES in), giving the lead to No. 05 AUBERLEN. No. 10 TAYLOR takes the Pontiac Riley into the garage with sporadic engine problems, and the team will change the ECU. No. 91 GOOSSENS (JOHNSON in) and No. 99 GURNEY make stops.
